Bovada Poker News: Holz Invests in E-Sports

Holz Invests in E-Sports

Now that German tournament wunderkind Fedor Holz is “retired” from poker, he has plenty of time and money to invest in other areas. His latest investment is a slice of Envy Gaming. According to Saturday’s ESPN report, Holz is now a minority owner of Team EnVyUs and the Dallas Fuel, the two E-Sports teams under Envy Gaming’s umbrella. Team EnVyUs was named Team of the Year at the 2016 Industry Awards after winning gold at the Call of Duty World League Championship and the SMITE World Championship.

2018 WSOP Schedule Made Official

A funny thing happened to the World Series of Poker two weeks ago: They had a draft version of their 2018 WSOP schedule pop up on the internet. After realizing the error, they went ahead and made it official. Last Tuesday, the WSOP released their full schedule for next year’s festival at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The 2018 WSOP will begin May 29 and run through July 19, and in a change from previous years, the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event will not be the last tournament on the calendar.

Not only will next summer’s finale be the amazing $1-million Big One For One Drop NLHE tournament (that’s a $1-million buy-in, not $1 million in prize money), there will also be 11 other WSOP tourneys getting underway after the Main Event begins July 2. In addition, there will be nine new bracelet events at the Rio, including the $365 Pot-Limit Omaha GIANT, which hopes to cash in with recreational players the same way its NLHE counterpart did in 2017. Once again, it will be ESPN and PokerGO splitting the television and live streaming coverage.

WSOP Circuit Returns to Marrakech

While everyone waits to see who wins the next WSOP Main Event in Vegas, the WSOP International Circuit will be touching down next month at the Casino de Marrakech in Morocco. This will be the fourth year in a row the casino has hosted this festival; a total of 10 gold Circuit rings will be up for grabs starting January 19, with the Main Event scheduled for two starting flights on January 25 and 26. English pro Arron Fletcher is the reigning Main Event champion at Marrakech, earning just over $140,000 for first place.
