Rachel Goes to Super Bowl

Rachel Goes to Super Bowl

After winning the Poker Bowl, Rachel was flown to Phoenix to experience the thrill of Super Bowl XLIX. Check out her blog detailing the trip.

Attending Super Bowl XLIX was a once in a life time opportunity. We flew in to Phoenix on January 30, and it was great to go from 28 degrees Fahrenheit to about 65 degrees. On our first day, we went to Casino Arizona and played some slots and Blackjack. Then we checked into Hotel Indigo, which is located in Scottsdale, Arizona. We were pretty exhausted at that time from the traveling, so we relaxed in our hotel room until going to dinner and having some drinks. Then we went to Talking Stick Casino, which was very busy. We played slots, but it was hard to find open slot machines due to the amount of people, so we played Blackjack and then went back to the hotel for a couple of drinks.

On Saturday, January 31, we woke up and went to The Breakfast Club. It was very busy, but the food was amazing. They had the best lemonade I’ve ever had. After that we drove to McDowell Sonoran Preserve to walk through wildlife, plant life and hike up the mountains. It was amazing to see Scottsdale from a different perspective once on the mountains. There were several cacti, plants and shrubs. It was the perfect image of Arizona. We were pretty tired after hiking for several hours, so we went back to our hotel room and relaxed for a while. We then went to 5th Avenue to go shopping, and we bought some souvenirs and gifts for the family. We finished the night off with dinner, casino and drinks.

The day of the main event, we were set to go to Super bowl XLIX and attend the Super Bowl Club at Gila River Arena. The Super Bowl Club was three hours prior to game time. We had an open bar, premium food and music, such as Little Big Town and Dan and Shay. After the performances were over, we headed over to the stadium for the game. We still had some time, so we bought some Super Bowl tee-shirts and a sweatshirt. Then it was time to go into the stadium to find our seats. It was very crowded and took about 30 minutes to get to our seats. At the start of the game, the National Anthem was sung and John Legend performed. It felt like Seahawks were the home team due to how loud they were cheering. For this game we were rooting for the Patriots. It then was time for kickoff. Seeing the game in person was just an indescribable experience. The Katy Perry halftime show was a great performance. Seeing the halftime show in person verses on television is spectacular. The scenery of the halftime show was amazing.

Overall this is an experience I would not trade for anything and even better I was able to do it with my boyfriend. This is something we will never forget. If it wasn’t for Bovada’s promotion, this would not have been possible.
