Previous Winners Walk Away Happy

With the 2015 Black Diamond Poker Open just around the corner, we look back at previous big tournament winners at Bovada. Whether it’s getting into the action through a freeroll, like Levi T., or buying in to the Main Event directly, like Jeremy G., every winner has story and each one is different.

◊ Levi, of Massachusetts, has been playing poker on and off for seven years but hadn’t had any big wins before. One night he saw an opportunity – a freeroll for an entry into the BDPO Main Event.  ◊ Levi got in the game and took care of business, beating over 200 players and earning his BDPO  ◊ qualification.  ◊

Once in the Main Event, there was no stopping Levi as he blew through the competition, playing a tight-aggressive game. By the end of the night, he stood alone as the 2013 BDPO ◊ champion with over $50,000 in prizing and instant street cred from the online poker community. Levi is a great example for amateur poker players and proof that you don’t need a huge bankroll to win big.  ◊

On the other hand, Jeremy from Louisiana was definitely no amateur, with seven years of experience as a professional poker player and having even participated in the World Series of Poker. Jeremy bought in to the 2014 GSPO Main Event directly and proceeded to defeat all comers with a mixture of good bankroll management, patience and discipline. While also favoring the tight-aggressive style of play, Jeremy opened his game up as the tournament went along and this strategy paid off to the tune of a $90,000 win in the GSPO.

You can bet that Levi  ◊ , Jeremy and many others like them, amateurs and professionals alike, will be ready when the 2015 BDPO  ◊ rolls around with its $4M guaranteed and a Bovada-record $500,000 Gtd Main Event. There are many poker stories out there and you never know who will end up being the next Bovada champion.
