The Best Times of Day to Play Poker
By: Jason Lake No doubt you've heard this classic phrase, or something close to it: Nothing good happens after 10 PM. Sometimes it's midnight, sometimes it's 2 AM. The message itself is universal, though. Human beings turn into pumpkins at some point in the late evening. Bad decisions are made. Consequences are felt.   I can see some of you are nodding your heads and thinking...
WSOP Colossus: Big Prizes, Small Buy-In
The 2015 World Series of Poker schedule has been announced, and if the popularity of the Millionaire Maker event is any indication, this year’s newest addition is going to be a smash success. It’s called The Colossus, featuring a guaranteed $5 million in prizes – for a buy in of just $565. That’s the smallest buy in for any open WSOP event in 35 years.   Don’t expect any overlay in this one. The Las Vegas Sun reports that over 13,000 participants are expected for this two day no-limit Hold’em tournament, kicking off this year’s WSOP festivities at the Rio on May 29 and finishing the following day. If so, that would bring in a prize pool of around $6.5 million, well above the $5 million in...
If I won the BDPO - by Jeffrey Goad
Oh how I look forward to this time of year. The BDPO main event is almost here.   The prize pool is huge, and the entries are many. I’m sure glad I sattied in for a buck and a few pennies!   I start the tourney off strong, a quick triple up with my pocket aces. I only wish I could have seen the looks on their anonymous faces.   We’re almost in the money. We’re down to hand for hand. I play with great focus for my share of the 500,000 grand.   Down to heads up. First place – I can taste it. I wake up with kings, and my opponent, he raised it.   This is my chance I’m going all in. The king on the flop assured me the win!   I’m the BDPO champ, the best in the land. It’s my dream come true....

Rachel Goes to Super Bowl
After winning the Poker Bowl, Rachel was flown to Phoenix to experience the thrill of Super Bowl XLIX. Check out her blog detailing the trip.   Attending Super Bowl XLIX was a once in a life time opportunity. We flew in to Phoenix on January 30, and it was great to go from 28 degrees Fahrenheit to about 65 degrees. On our first day, we went to Casino Arizona and played some slots and Blackjack. Then we checked into Hotel Indigo, which is located in Scottsdale, Arizona. We were pretty exhausted at that time from the traveling, so we relaxed in our hotel room until going to dinner and having some drinks. Then we went to Talking Stick Casino, which was very busy. We played slots, but it was...
Previous Winners Walk Away Happy
With the 2015 Black Diamond Poker Open just around the corner, we look back at previous big tournament winners at Bovada. Whether it’s getting into the action through a freeroll, like Levi T., or buying in to the Main Event directly, like Jeremy G., every winner has story and each one is different.    ◊ Levi, of Massachusetts, has been playing poker on and off for seven years but hadn’t had any big wins before. One night he saw an opportunity – a freeroll for an entry into the BDPO Main Event.  ◊ Levi got in the game and took care of business, beating over 200 players and earning his BDPO  ◊ qualification.  ◊   Once in the Main Event, there was no stopping Levi as he blew through the...
