PCPC Day 1A Update

PCPC Day 1A Summary

With an initial entry count of 274 players, 10 levels and nearly 11 straight hours, Day 1A concluded close to 1 AM local time with a total of 94 players making it through to tomorrow’s Day 2. Notable pros advancing to Day 2 include Canadian Patrick Serda, who’s an EPT and WPT regular, and Demo Kiriopolous.  Kiriopolous took down the 2011 Punta Cana Poker Classic. The poker champion returns to his seat on Day 2 with 141,900 chips.

In Day 1A, there was no shortage of edge-of-your-seat all in moments. Brandon Paster, who recently bubbled the Panama LAPT final table, ran into Patricio Rojas’ set with a pair of bullets on a call. A miracle Ace gave Paster the victory.

The average chip stack going into Day 2 tomorrow is 58,297 and will feature all 94 players who lasted the 10 levels in Day 1A plus those who are able to hold onto their chips through to the end of Day 1B today.

You want to hear how Bovada players are doing?  Two of the four highest chip stacks heading into Day 2 are Bovada players.  Both Steve Stolzmann and Derrick Scott qualified through Bovada and are proudly representing us going into tomorrow’s leg of the tournament with some pretty impressive chip stacks:

Patrick Serda (173,500)
Leonal Otaza (165,900)
Steve Stolzmann, (163,000)
Derrick Scott (155,800)

Bovada whould also like to give a shout out to Wesley Duncan, Steve Silva and Rudy Flores who have all made it through to Day 2.  These three gentleman are here representing Bovada for the second year in a row.  Last year, Wesley took 12th overall in the Punta Cana Poker Classic and was Bovada’s chip leader for most of the tournament.

Day 1B kicks off today at 2 PM local time (1 PM ET), with Day 2 scheduled on Thursday at 2 PM ET local time.

Busting out of a poker tournament is never fun, but when you have a spectacular beach at your doorstep, a well-stocked fridge in your hotel room, 24-hour room service, and all-you-can-handle everything, it stings a little less. For those who didn’t make it beyond Day 1A of the Punta Cana Poker Classic, there’s plenty to be excited about.
